"Nominate," not 'appoint."

[edit]

American presidents do not appoint judges. They nominate them and the Senate either confirms the nomination or not. My correction is not a quibble. The process has two stages (nomination and confirmation or non-confirmation). By using the word "appoint," one gives the wrong impression that only the president has a say in the matter.S.
