Hilton Dawson statement - possible rewording

I wonder if the statement in the opening section that one of the Party's founders was "former Labour MP Hilton Dawson" might be modified. My concern is that I wonder if from this wording a reader could assume that he was a Member of Parliament for a constituency in North East England. In fact his constituency was Lancaster and Wyre which is in North West England. Thus I wonder if "former Labour MP for Lancaster and Wyre, Hilton Dawson" would be a better form of words.
