North Vancouver, British Columbia

[edit]

According to WP:CANPLACE, this article should be moved to North Vancouver, British Columbia. I was going to be bold and move it, but I thought maybe there was a reason why it's mis-named. Thoughts from anyone out there? Masterhatch (talk) 14:30, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

From the style guide, "Cities that either have unique names or are unquestionably the most significant place sharing their name can have undisambiguated titles."
There are two different "North Vancouver" municipalities with different governments etc, the "City of North Vancouver", and the "District of North Vancouver". The concept of a "District municipality" is quite fringe, so in this idiosyncratic situation with two adjacent municipalities of comparable population (~60k for the City and ~80k for the District), it really is in keeping with the style guide to keep the City disambiguated, and have "North Vancouver" point to the disambiguation page.
