Prince?

Is Prince this person's first name, rather than title (can't quite see how it could be the latter, given that she's female)? May be worth mentioning that, in case I'm not the only one to find that bemusing. --DoubleGrazing (talk) 05:00, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's a name but not her given name which is "Sarojini". Tamils use patronymic surnames (i.e. their father's give name) and the surname is usually written first and initialised. Married women tend to replace their father's given name with their husband's given name after they marry. In this case Sarojini seems to have kept her father's name and added her husband's name, giving an unusual name even by Tamil standards. I suspect "Prince" is her father's given name and "Manmatharajah Charles" is her husband's full name.--Obi2canibe (talk) 14:00, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
