Torque
[edit]Gearboxes reverse prop direction - that's just how they work. Whether or not Top80 chose one for reducing gryroscopic effects or acceleration torque is not known. Either way, 99% of pilots, when talking about "torque" mean the effect from the drag of the prop inducing an in-flight turn, a phenomenon not cured by a gearbox. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.151.160.158 (talk) 00:13, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
- As per WP:V we have to go with what the references say. The World Directory of Leisure Aviation 2003-04 says: "The geared reduction drive means that the motor and propeller turn in different directions, reducing torque during acceleration and deceleration." There are lots of ways of reducing prop rpm that don't achieve this, like the far more common belt drives used on engines in this class. - Ahunt (talk) 01:36, 9 November 2013 (UTC)
