Death by Stereo
[edit]Is Death by Stereo a Pinoy rock band? Or there is Pinoy rock band that has the same name? --Jojit fb 05:45, 30 July 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, there is a band named Death By Stereo, headed by Jerome Abalos. They are still active in the scene every now and then.
perhaps they've same names, kinda like Chicosci and South America's Chico Science. and Manila's Pupil and Pupil from Denmark... Magasin 00:49, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Pinoy rock or Pinoy Rock?
[edit]What is approriate? Pinoy rock or Pinoy Rock? Other articles in Wikipedia doesn't capitalize it, like Pop rock, Alternative rock etc. I think that we should follow the standard. --Jojit fb 04:40, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
60's & 70's Bands correct names:
[edit]Correct/Incorrect: Anak ng Bayan/Anakbayan; Juan de la Cruz/Juan de la Cruz Band; Heber at ang Banyhuhay/Banyuhay

== Where's DZRJ? == (January 2, 2006)
A glaring mistake in the author's history is that DZRJ, The Rock Of Manila, is not given any credit or mention at all in this. DZRJ was the central figure in the evolution of Pinoy Rock, and this mistake is a discredit to WIKIPEDIA. Having been a part of that history, I could fill in the blanks. But I will leave it to the author concerned the chance to correct himself. - BOB MAGOO <bobbluesmagoo@yahoo.com> <http://therockofmanila.com>
- It's not "a discredit to Wikipedia". Wikipedia articles are only the sum of all of the edits made by members. If you haven't taken the trouble of adding a section on DZRJ don't expect there to be one. Maybe you should take a crack at it - you'd probably do all right. :) 203.131.167.26 00:57, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Dongabay
[edit]Fixed a POV mentioning the "genius of Filipino songwriting" on the Dongabay album. I agree (it's a great album), but if you can find anything better (and not POV) than "laid-back optimism" feel free to re-edit.
Greatest 50 rock bands

Pin Up Girls
[edit]No offense to Mondo but why an entire paragraph on Pin-up Girls, while more influential bands like Sandwich and Rivermaya only share a paragraph?Clubdredd 04:33, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
DJ Ro
[edit]No offense to DJ Ro, but did his stint at Gweilos really make an impact on Pinoy Rock? Just asking. Perhaps the author needs to verify this further.Clubdredd 04:33, 20 February 2007 (UTC)
Clean up
[edit]This article needs to be cleaned up bad. Most of the bands mentioned aren't even notable enough to be included here. --Pnoise 07:33, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
also needs clean-up on links and artist names etc. especially dates/timeline and contributions of artists. well, we'll work on that Magasin 01:08, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
This article has degenerated into one blatant venue for advertisement, especially for some bands who have no notable achievements whatsoever, therefore not worth mentioning. Since no one seems to have the initiative to step up, I will start the article clean up. Most important would be the issue of including bands of "notable" status. Since I want to make this pretty much democratic, I will put up a separate list of bands in question. If anyone has anything to say about any particular band's notability (and not just "doing gigs" or "has played with so and so" or "has been included in so and so album"), then post an argument there on why they should be included. Ok, will start clean up now. Let's make this article as clean as possible. Remember, the whole world's looking at this, we don't want them to see how cluttered and self-serving we could be (if only, for the Pinoy Rock genre.) --Pnoise 09:41, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok, started clean up. Wrote everything so they are more or less on the same writing style. Some explanations for the edited items:
- What exactly is the notability of The Numeric Sampler album when during that time, a lot of compilation albums have already been released? Edited that out, until further explanation/ justification. Along with this, bands under that sampler are edited out, until further justification as to why they should be included.
- Too much emphasis on goth. Not equal with all other genre entries. enough to say that there is underground following, apart from more mainstream genres. Left the more prominent bands. The following are questionable, until further justification that they're notable enough to be included: Skies of Ember, DaydreamCycle, Inflikt, Scarlet Tears, Sea of Rains, The Late Isabel, The Slave Drum, Elemento and Decay Transit. Remember, we want this article to be a comprehensive resource on Pinoy Rock, not as a venue for production advertisement.
- Edited out revitalized metal scene. In the first place, were they ever away? Probably needs a better-written entry on underground metal. And the more prominent bands, not just the ones included in recent productions. Again, remember, we want this article to be a comprehensive resource on Pinoy Rock, not as a venue for production advertisement.
- Edited out punk scene. Someone write a better written punk rock entry please. As well as the more prominent bands, not just the ones who are always included in the so called productions. As always, remember, we want this article to be a comprehensive resource on Pinoy Rock, not as a venue for production or band advertisement.
There. This is work in progress, so let us all make this work and set aside personal agendas. Pinoy Rock forever. --Pnoise 13:11, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:RJ & The Riots LP.jpg
[edit]Image:RJ & The Riots LP.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Image copyright problem with Image:DZRJ.gif
[edit]The image Image:DZRJ.gif is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
The following images also have this problem:

90s
[edit]someone re edited the 90's part, nice and clean but shows a bias overview that only shows one side of the coin. the underground community is not represented here. while the commercial pop bands rears its head once again. lets show the diversity of what pinoy rock had in the 90's because not everyone follows just pop bands like th eraserheads and afterimage. i vote a clean up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pinoymetal (talk • contribs) 20:46, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
i second that vote, the 90's category looks clean, sure. but the underground boom on this era cannot be denied. they cleaned it up to look like the 90s was all about pop rock bands like the eraser heads and rivermaya when it definitely was not. the current write up looks like it was done by some major label rep.
the underground scene was and still is the last sanctuary for people who needed deeper music that what commercial bubble gum packaged major labels and mainstream radio forced offered the masses. a re-write of the 90's should be in order as it looks like an insult to the intelligence of the underground industry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.113.199.66 (talk) 20:59, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

122.2.115.143 (talk) 23:03, 3 October 2009 (UTC) this article is very much biased, throwing out opinionated facts and talking about bands that did not make any impact in the local rock industry in the philippines. 'seems like the writer only talked about the bands he likes or didnt make any research. |
