This article needs thoroughly re-writng. At the moment all it amounts to is an editing of information of the Police Federation website. There are some problematic issues it does not address -

1) The criticism of political interference in the police service when the Federation quite obviously is not adverse to political campaigning itself ie on drugs and pub opening hours.
2) The reflex automatic defense of police actions in the face of criticism - as immature as the reflex criticism of the police.
3) The absurd status of the Federation itself - statutory body and union in one unholy mix.

IMHO the police would be much better served by being allowed to have a proper independant union, but no govenment will allow that.

I agree it needs a re-write and have tagged it as such. It's very POV and cites no sources. If I get any time I'll try to do some work to it. With regards to your points above, I could raise exactly the same critisisms of them too... Sapient 22:49, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've re-jigged it all, deleted some non-notable stuff and some very POV bits. Still needs to be balanced out and some sources would be nice too, I guess. Sapient 13:26, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
