Since this article is as long as it is, there should be a little more context on the struggle between the official state church of the Byzantine Empire and the local Coptic church (whose doctrines and separate existence were not recognized by the central imperial authorities). Presumably there would have been another Constantinople-appointed Patriarch of Alexandria at the same time... AnonMoos 07:33, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
