How many alternative names?

[edit]

We had five alternative names listed in the article, all of which was a simple translation of "port of Iloilo" (See below). These do not seem to be useful since "port of iloilo" is nearly universally used, even in non-English conversation. Perhaps the Filipino/Tagalog should be included since it is the other official language. But do we need two Hiligaynon options and a Kinaray-a one? Consider WP:Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names)#Alternative names and WP:Laundry list. Being WP:Bold I deleted all alternatives, which is my slight preference (cleaner, simpler). I think that we should build a WP:Consensus towards what our policy should be, and then consider adopting that policy across all of Philippine-related Wikipedia articles.

Here is what I deleted: Filipino: Pantalan ng Iloilo, Hiligaynon: Puerto sang Iloilo, Dungkaan sang Iloilo or Kinaray-a: Durungkaan kang Iloilo, Spanish: Puerto de Iloilo
