Strange claim r.e. generic trademark
The lead currently includes the text:
- "Though 3M's patent ran out in 1997, the term "Post-it" is not genericized. It and the original notes' distinctive yellow color remain registered company trademarks, with terms such as "repositionable notes" used for similar offerings manufactured by competitors."
The claim that "Post-it" is not a generic trademark seems bizzare, because it certainly is used generically to refer to the type of product in various countries. That the trademarks still stand is really immaterial to whether the trademark is now generic. I would note that while the above text speaks about the specific shade of yellow being trademarked, we have images on this page showing a different shade of what is almost certainly not trademarked 3M product, alongside example which probably are.
