Mother church

[edit]

Why is the church of Scotland tha "mother church"? A.Z. 22:26, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As noted in Presbyterianism, the Presbyterian churches in North America (and American mission churches in Korea), Ireland, Africa, and Oceania trace their histories to the Scottish church. Unlike other Reformed churches (e.g., Dutch, Swiss, French, Hungarian, RCA, etc), they consider themselves spiritual "descendants" of John Knox. Flycandler 15:54, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thank you :-) A.Z. 02:36, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Peacock

I added the peacock template because of the sentence "Other much smaller American Presbyterian bodies..." A.Z. 22:32, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Presbyterians Join Protestant Movement to Accept Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Ministers. So one more protestant/anglican church in USA accepts LGBT ordination and gives blessings to homosexual relationships. After United Church of Christ, Reformed Church in America, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and anglican Episcopal Church in America now also Presbyterian Church in America accepts LGBT ordination and blessings to homosexual relationships. 188.118.130.52 (talk) 11:37, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Footnote currently numbered 24 has a broken link to a PDF file [1]. I believe a similar file is located at [2]. Perhaps someone more familiar with the history can apply this update, if it is actually valid. 24.57.210.141 (talk) 08:58, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, same problem for footnote 23, and same solution.[3] 24.57.210.141 (talk) 09:04, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
