[edit]

I've just created this page because there were too many external links on the Comparison of open source configuration management software page, and because it merited one on its own.

In keeping with Wiki policy, I don't work on the project; I work on one of its competitors SmartFrog. However, this does mean that I am fairly ignorant of Puppet's internals. Other people are needed to fill this page out. We need:

  • intro to the language
  • more on the runtime

Moved

[edit]

"Puppet (tool)" is not a conventional name ... I moved it to "Puppet (software)" after coming here looking for an article on the software and not finding it in the obvious place - David Gerard (talk) 12:49, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Transaction" section unclear

[edit]

The steps underneath the Transaction section seem to need their language tidying up. I'm not familiar with Puppet so don't know what is correct. Gsoper (talk) 17:10, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Accuracy

[edit]

Note that in the article, the following statement is made: ...and has Microsoft Windows support but use of it is discouraged since the Windows version requires giving personally identifiable information in order to be allowed to download it and redistribution of the Windows version is illegal. The provided sources do not back up this claim, and it seems to be inaccurate and misleading. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.139.78.38 (talk) 10:32, 4 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In referenced to all the "citation needed" on the date of Puppet (formerly Puppet Labs, formerly Reductive Labs) being founded - I found an article which might shed some light on where the 2005 figure quoted in this article came from: https://redmonk.com/cote/2009/06/24/reductivelabs/ Loz hurst (talk) 17:44, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
