Allegations of doping

[edit]

Should this article mention the allegations of doping, mentioned (for example) in this NYT piece, and if so, how? Pinging ZenChen0, Valeree, and IP49.186.109.79 (can't ping, will drop a talk page comment). Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 18:25, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You guys probably know the protocol better than me. But in my opinion, it's premature and potentially libelous to make an entire dedicated chapter to casting suspicion on someone who has not been conclusively proven to have doped and has not had a fair trial to determine this. It would be more prudent to wait until the investigation is complete before creating content that might unfairly tarnish Qin's reputation, especially if it turns out to be based on inconclusive evidence or nothing more than ugly political motives writing it up as if it's all proven that he is guilty.49.186.109.79 (talk) 18:34, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We have fairly strict policy on WP:BLP.
FFF, the article barely mentions Qin (and is confusing in any event -- apparently "this time", whenever that is, he was among multiple elite athetes who had a positve test (somewhere)?). We certainly couldn't use that article to add a doping scandal section to this BLP. I'm reluctant to use it to even mention doping, it's just not clear enough. Yes. If included (which I'm not pushing for), no dedicated section is warranted. I also object to "tested positive for doping" and "leading up to the 2021 Tokyo Olympics" as being misleading. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 18:50, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
