Disambiguation

[edit]

I have made the page a disambiguation, as first it was redirected to Messiah Foundation International, but was later reverted by another editor to redirect to Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi. Therefore, to avoid any issues, I have made the page link to both articles. However, lately the disambiguation page has been reverted back to a redirect to Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi. Personally I think it makes logical sense to just keep the disambiguation page. Comments or concerns, anyone? (Omirocksthisworld (talk) 09:17, 30 January 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Well no, actually this is not an attempt to publicize anything- Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertisement center. Please attempt to assume good faith with other editors- see WP:Five Pillars.

The whole reason for putting up this discussion is so that we can work out the reason for the redirects. The disambiguation page links to Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi anyway, so what is the issue? The disambiguation page is both useful and, I think, helps to stop edit wars over which page the title redirects to. (Omirocksthisworld (talk) 13:39, 30 January 2010 (UTC))[reply]

I think you seriousely need to read Wikipedia: Five Pillars, wikipedia is not a platform to be used to preach your self-made teachings and by using this sort of names you are preaching your dogmas.--Falconkhe (talk) 11:18, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Falconkhe, I really think you need to understand that we (Omirocksthisworld and I) are not associated with either the MFI (as you claim) nor each other. We are just happy-editors and would like to continue to edit articles that interest me, personally.

So, it'd be nice, if you stopped accusing me of being a member of the said organisation. Thanks :) -- Nasiryounus|Talk 19:34, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Regardless of anyone's association or bias, if an editor is attempting to work to make a page in accordance with Wikipedia's policies, then what is the use of laying accusations on people you don't even know? Falconkhe, please try to be civil with others. If you feel like an edit made by another editor is "against" you or your beliefs, that is no reason to become hostile.

So, is it agreed upon that this page should remain a disambiguation? -Omi() 23:35, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No I don't agree to remain this page disambiguation. --Falconkhe (talk) 07:21, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you could be cooperative and explain why you think the page shouldn't be a disambiguation? --Omi() 22:48, 2 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This I have alredy explain, No need to create disambiguation for this page as this is title of gohar shahi. This would be something else, if you want your publicize your organization in the name of disambiguation.--Falconkhe (talk) 07:18, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Who said anything about belonging to an organization? And what organization? In regards to Messiah Foundation International, which I linked in the disambiguation page- my adding of the link doesn't mean that I belong to said organization. Therefore, please remain civil, or if you are keen to discuss whatever qualms you have with the organization, I wouldn't suggest doing it on this particular talk page. What we are discussing here is simply the best way to deal with the title of this page. It was made a disambiguation page firstly because the title relates to more than one article and secondly because it couldn't be decided which article this page should redirect to. It seems sensible to to keep the disambiguation page. --Omi() 07:44, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You need to understand that. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an ad centre.--Falconkhe (talk) 17:41, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Which is exactly what I said. So once again- what is the real problem here? --Omi() 23:56, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well no, actually this is an attempt to publicize anything- Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not an advertisement center. Please attempt to assume good faith with other editors- see WP:Five Pillars. --Falconkhe (talk) 09:58, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Uhm, I was hoping you would express your own opinions in your own words instead of simply copy-pasting my earlier comment. --Omi() 01:54, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since edit warring hasn't stopped, Falconkhe, I would also appreciate it if you could provide a good reason why this page should not be a disambiguation. And please please please do not say "you're advertising your organization". Your recent edit summary of "Dont use the name of gohar shahi, don't chanage the page" doesn't help anything. What is the real issue? The disambiguation page still links to Gohar Shahi anyway. The fact is, this title refers to more than one subject on Wikipedia, that's why its linked. Omi() 07:01, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Its YOU who is doing the edit wars, I am simply stopping you to use the name of gohar shahi and this is the only reason this page should not be disambiguation. Hope all is clear now and you will not further offend and use the name and picture of HH Gohar Shahi.--Falconkhe (talk) 07:08, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Excuse me, but could you provide me a legitimate definition of 'offending a picture'. I do not understand what you mean when you say that someone is "offending the image of Shahi" whence they are actually representing a simple page that relates to either Shahi (which you have done quite prominintley) or an article that relates to an organisation either led by Shahi or supports Shahi. You're really ridiculous in your accusations here, and you are not really trying to stop and edit-war, rather provoking it, as the editor of this article had initially created the article and generously, without any bias opinions made a Disambig to Shahi's page. Then, you seemed to jump in Redirecting the whole article which didn't seem wise at all, because RAGS International is a name of an organisation not the name of a personality, however you're Redirecting the page to Shahi's and it seems that RAGS International is a person rather than a movement.-- NY7 06:18, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation vs. Redirect

[edit]

Okay judging by Falconkhe's last revert, he obviously doesn't agree with this. "This page belong to gohar shahi and gohar shahi was founder of ASI not MFI. Thus the page should be re-directed to gohar shahi artcile" was the edit summary for the revert. As I mentioned on Talk: The Representative of Gohar Shahi, I feel like this page should remain a disambiguation due to the fact that there is more than one page on Wikipedia that relates to this page. Now, in relation to the edit summary,I would like to point out that an organization which also links itself to Gohar Shahi, Anjuman Serfaroshan-e-Islam, does not have a wikipedia page (it is rather a redirect to the Gohar Shahi article) and thus only the link to the Gohar Shahi article has been included as a link in the disambiguation page, as well as a link to the Messiah Foundation International page. Comments or concerns anyone? Should this page be a disambiguation or a redirect, judging by the title of the page? Omi() 06:25, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RFC: Should this page be a disambiguation page or a redirect?

[edit]

A dispute between editors (myself included) is over whether this page should be a disambiguation or a redirect page. Input from neutral editors would be greatly appreciated. This issue is very much related to the pages The Representative of Imam Mehdi, The Representative of Gohar Shahi, and pretty much all pages relating to Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi.

You are not a neutral party here, as your edit history here has clearly shown. Please allow an uninvolved editor to comment. Omirocksthisworld(Drop a line) 07:02, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • The page should be a disambiguation page. A redirect is inappropriate because:
    • The Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi article does not even mention RAGS International at all.
    • Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi is a person, not an organisation.
    • The RAGS International organization no longer exists but was renamed Messiah Foundation International.
My opinion is based only on a quick read of the articles that I mention, which I assume to be correct. I don't have any personal knowledge of the subject. It appears to me that if RAGS International was to be a redirect, it should be to MFI, not Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi, because the latter does not even mention "RAGS International". Mitch Ames (talk) 09:20, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks for your input! You make some valid points. Omirocksthisworld(Drop a line) 09:36, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for your comments on RAGS International but its a lie that RAGS was previous name of MFI, can they provide any reputable reference for that? That's why I was in favor of re-direct. Kindly comment.--Falconkhe (talk) 09:40, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • A point that Falconkhe doesn't sink in is that the editors of these few articles (Omi, me and a few others) are not associated with the MFI. For as far as I know, I am not, and I suppose that the others aren't either, as they've already made it clear, and I'm sure if requested, reputable sources could be provided, but the point is, you (Falconkhe) haven't provided any sources that could relate Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi to RAGS International.-- NY7 04:35, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New AN/I

[edit]

Yet again, an Administrators' noticeboard/incidents report has been filed. Hopefully this will not only address block evasion but also the wider picture of content disputes on all sides. Please see AN/I thread. Esowteric+Talk 14:26, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
