[edit]Regarding the quote "let no one ask about another's caste or with whom he heats; he who worships Hari is Hari's own," given that the Swamiji's Sampradaya is devoted almost exclusively to the worship of Rama , we shouldn't say here that the word "Hari" refers to Krishna; see the second sentence of the following article: Taming the Ascetic: Devotionalism in a Hindu Monastic Order
- Peter van der Veer
- Man, New Series, Vol. 22, No. 4 (Dec., 1987), pp. 680-95. "
It says "The Ramanandis of northern India are commonly described as Vaishnava devotional Bhakti sect. They are in their own perception Ram Bhaktas, whom outsiders regard as an incarnation of Vishnu, but who *in Ramanandi theology is presented as the Supreme God in His own right.*" (asterisks mine)Therefore, we can take Hari to refer to Rama and not Krishna in the Swamiji's quote, and consequently I have taken out the sentence in the article that said otherwise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.211.250.125 (talk) 19:22, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Ramavat as a surname
[edit]ਪੂਜਨ ਚਾਲੀ ਬਰਹਮ ਠਾਇ ॥ I went to God's place(Temple), and worshipped Him there.
ਸੋ ਬਰਹਮ ਬਤਾਇਓ ਗਰ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ The Guru(Spiritual Wisdom) shown me that Brahm(God), within my own mind. these quotes by him himself tell me that he didn't believe in the distinction you are talking about. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.224.79.190 (talk) 04:19, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
I dont know who had contributed that info but I had made some grammatical corrections in that portion and placed that info under a separate heading with the name "Ramavat as a surname" in the article Ramanandi sect. I thank that person and request him to give some more details

[edit]@2405:204:c689:5e6a:fdb0:f2dd:476b:128e: what are your concerns? please discuss. Ms Sarah Welch (talk) 19:12, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
An editor recently added "Saint" throughout this page but without citations. I left it alone because I don't know if that is a valid edit or not. I will ask for advice on Wikipedia talk:Hinduism-related topics notice board.
The same editor also added {{DISPLAYTITLE:Swami Ramananda}}
, which I reverted since it doesn't work (see WP:DISPLAYTITLE). Should the page name be changed to Saint Ramananda or Swami Ramananda, or should it be left alone? davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:52, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- Davidwr, "Swami Ramanand" is more common, but I think it should be left alone. Lightbluerain❄ (Talk | contribs) 06:39, 17 January 2021 (UTC)

My request is to restore the article to the version of Dough Weller on the basis of WP:BANREVERT as the editor is sock puppet of this user. Hemraj108 (talk) 08:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

Ramananda was a Kanyakubja Brahmin.
[edit]I don't understand why Ramananda is mentioned as Gaur Brahmin here when in same article the source of calling him gaur itself is debunked. All authentic sources call Ramananda a kanyakubja brahmin but seems like Wikipedia vandalisers aren't checked by Wikipedia admins properly. Ministerofunderworld (talk) 09:42, 9 March 2024 (UTC)

Below lines are creating confusing as they are not matching with scholarly articles about Ramananda. And according to WP:RAJ below lines are not suitable as the sources used in this is from British Era
"Not one word is said as to his southern origin, and the fact that he was stated to be a Kanyakubja Brahmin is decisively against such a theory" –George A. Greirson (1920). Stoickik (talk) 11:33, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
