[edit]As of February 2024, six incursions of the ants had been discovered and eradicated very quickly. By the time time, they had spread across Brisbane and southwards into the Gold Coast, as well as having been found in northern New South Wales at Murwillumbah and Wardellit. Commonwealth and state governments have committed around a billion dollars in an effort to eradicate the pest from Queensland by 2032.from article: the correct Town name Wardellit. should be "Wardell" REFERENCE: [1] Fire ants are the focus of the National Fire Ant Eradication Program and the Fire Ant Response Plan 2023-27. The following responses being managed by the program are under way in: South-East Queensland (since 2001) and South Murwillumbah (since 2023) and Wardell (2024) in New South Wales.
