McKnight's Judaism

[edit]

I took a class on Jewish American literature with him at UGA back in 2008, and he discussed his conversion to Judaism many times over the course of the semester. I'm trying to find a source where he discusses that, but I want to go on record that I know from personal experience that he does in fact claim to be a practicing Jew. He's a former teacher of mine too and I seem to remember stumbling upon some article that he married a Jewish woman - I searched extensively but couldn't find it again, so unless it's sourced that he identifies as Jewish, it should stay out. Sorry. Not that it matters, but in 1997, he didn't mention anything about it. Though he missed more than half the classes that semester. --CutOffTies (talk) 14:40, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I know; I'm just surprised that the issue hasn't come up in interviews with him--even when one of his characters converts to Judaism. Odd. I thought he had converted long ago, while (or even before) he was in the military.... I'll keep looking.... Aristophanes68 (talk) 15:50, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
He very well could've already converted when he was my teacher, it may have just never came up. Nice expansion on the article, btw --CutOffTies (talk) 15:55, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
