Don't need one, per WP:CALC; five singles and an EP with one new track, all of which are cited in the main body.--Launchballer 13:37, 4 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I think that's a lot better, though it might be better to say that Wet Leg is a duo. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:36, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
  • Cited: Yes - Offline/paywalled citation accepted in good faith
  • Interesting: Yes
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Earwig checks out; it picks up a few bits and pieces, but they have all been accounted for in quotation marks. My biggest concern for the article is that some of the references are questionable (e.g., Spotify), and the article needs some rewriting for grammar and style. The new alt doesn't appeal to me, personally, but it appears to appeal to others. Significa liberdade (talk) 01:52, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've replaced Spotify with ASCAP, although it can probably come out if necessary. I assume you're referring to the local papers, which all purport to have teams of writers or are interviews.--Launchballer 09:51, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A ping to Significa liberdade :) theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 23:27, 5 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the pink, theleekycauldron! I have re-reviewed the article, and I think the issues brought up before have been addressed. I will recommend the article for DYK. I'm not exactly sure how to do that, but I put the checkmark next to ALT1. Significa liberdade (talk) 01:37, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, Significa liberdade! It goes in your latest comment (for the bot), I've moved it there :) theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 03:35, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Launchballer and Significa liberdade: was going to promote this to Prep 6, but I'm uneasy that this BLP is unduly weighted towards Richards' accusations in the personal life section. At around 340 words, it's nearly half of the article body, and much of the second paragraph seems to have much more to do with Wet Leg than Teasdale specifically. Essentially, I'm citing WP:BLPBALANCE and querying whether the biography of a very talented woman needs to focus so much on the accusations of an ex. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 23:12, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think the problem with the article is that the rest of it isn't big enough. (When writing about band members who I'm not convinced are actually notable, I go short on band stuff on the grounds that a) the band article should cover it already, and b) in my mind it helps ram home notability.) I'll do some more work in the morning.--Launchballer 23:48, 9 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
AirshipJungleman29: How's it looking now?--Launchballer 11:09, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Much better Launchballer. However, I've just noticed the "she released several songs before that under the name RHAIN" is not cited in the lead or mentioned in the body. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 11:15, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Added "and signed her as Rhain" - pretty sure "several songs" comes under WP:CALC, since I mention four of them.--Launchballer 11:18, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Personal life section

[edit]

Much of the information in this section seems focused on Wet Leg, not Teasdale. How much of this information should be removed? Also, it seems the heading may need to be changed if the section is only discussing a "scandal" with Douglas Richards. Significa liberdade (talk) 02:02, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've taken the liberty of partially restoring an earlier version of that section and rewording it so that the first sentence is about her, with the rest after 'for this'. I say this helps give context.--Launchballer 10:27, 5 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Famous Italian Ancestor

[edit]

An online comment made by a distant relation of Teasdale alerted me to the fact that she has a famous Italian ancestor. I checked up on this being a keen genealogist myself and it's true she is a descendant of Anthony Panizzi a famous Italian immigrant to England in the 19th century who has his own wiki page. Her paternal grandmother was a Panizzi.C3MC2 (talk) 16:44, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Almost there. The usual copy changes, yes, but also a question about whether mentioning "scurrilous allegations" in the lead is a good idea in a BLP. Ping when done. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 23:56, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know? If you fancy doing so, I always have plenty of GA nominees to review. Just look for the all-uppercase titles in the Television section. Reviews always appreciated.

Copy changes

[edit]

Lead

[edit]
  • In July 2023, Plastic Mermaids' frontman Douglas Richards made several scurrilous allegations about Teasdale and Wet Leg. I am concerned that putting this where it is in the lead is a BLP violation. The body copy and overall weight given seem fine, however.
    • Plastic Mermaids is not a possessive here (it is being used as an adjective), so the apostrophe should be removed.
If my understanding of BLP policy is correct (and tell me if it isn't), then I'm not sure I see that problem; it takes up around a seventh of the lead and around a fifth of the body. What I have done instead is changed 'made' to 'was criticised after making', as it felt unfair to omit that piece of context. I have also cut the apostrophe.
Your changes help more than I'd have thought, and it looks a lot better. Going to approve. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 06:08, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Life and career

  • Link Formby, Isle of Wight, etc. on first body mention.
Done all except Orlando Weeks, as that title redirects to The Maccabees, which is linked shortly afterwards.

Try In 2018, she released the single "Solid Gold", which she had developed with Plastic Mermaids, a band fronted by Douglas Richards and containing his brother Jamie Richards.
Done, except with "Around two years later" instead of "In 2018" as the previous sentence begins "In 2016". (That "around" is doing a fair bit of lifting, given that "Pavlova" was released in early November 2016 and "Solid Gold" was released in late May 2018, but 18+ months rounds up to two years so this should be okay.)
  • I think it should be double-A-side single, since there are two A-sides and there's no such thing as a "side single".
Fixed.

  • Question here. The Sunday Times is separate editorially from The Times, so shouldn't the second mention of criticism be aimed at the former, not the latter?
Re-reading the source, I suspect that it an error, so changed.

Sourcing and spot checks

[edit]
  • 1: Full name as in the ASCAP repertory. This is acceptable as usually the full name. checkY
  • 3: I really wish there was a transcript so I could find a more direct quote here. This is ABOUTSELF; the interview itself might not be reliable, but it's the subject's statement. checkY
Going by the accessdate, I have a horrible feeling I nicked that from the Wet Leg article. I don't fancy wading through a podcast at nearly three in the morning so I've replaced the reference.
  • 19: 2021 article on release of "Chaise Longue". checkY
  • 32: The original Times article. Rhian has spoken many times about the fact her ex-boyfriend is the subject of several Wet Leg songs. “Wet Dream is a break-up song,” she told one interviewer. She is referring to Doug, something other sources close to the band have confirmed, and the pain of their break-up gives the album its defiant, savage energy. “You’re like a piece of s***, you either sink or you float,” Rhian sings in the song Piece of Shit. The thing about these ex-boyfriend albums is we almost never hear from the ex-boyfriend. How does it feel to be on the receiving end of a globally acclaimed character assassination? Put simply, what’s it like to be the piece of shit? Other quotes and assertions check out. checkY
  • 33: To paraphrase Teasdale’s own words, he seems a bit like a “piece of shit,” indeed. checkY

No Earwig issues: it catches attributed quotes, names of other bands mentioned as inspirations, and the phrase "the Isle of Wight".
