In attempting to move the previous "Ridván" entry to this "Riḍván" location, I seem to have messed up and now none of the old links seem to go anywhere. I apologize profusely for the screw-up. I'm attempting to patch this the long way 'round, and welcome any advice for future page-movings, since I'm not sure exactly what went wrong. If more experienced folks think it better to simply revert or know a better way to fix this, be my guest. I'll certainly take no offense.

Yea. The "Riḍván" renders ok in the body of the article, but not in the title. For example, at the top of my screen now I see something that looks like this:

Editing Talk:Ri   ván

[edit]

at the top, and it has an utterly nonsensical name in the URL: "Ri%E1%B8%8Dv%C3%A1n" I tried to "move page" and fix it but it won't work. The "̣" character should probably be disallowed from titles because I had to fix the redirects from Ridvan and Ridván too. Actually it's not a true character, just modifies the previous character by putting a dot under it. It would be wise to move this article back to Ridván with a {{wrongtitle}} message addressing the "ḍ" like this:

The title of this article is incorrect because of technical limitations. The correct title is Riḍván.

...but the system won't let me do it.

I've moved it for you. Talrias (t | e | c) 19:17, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Arabic spelling

[edit]

The Arabic spelling is wrong. While it uses all of the alphabets that go into the spelling of the word it has them from left to right instead of from right to left as it should be. So it literally spells Navdzir. Besides, while it might be transcribed as Ridvan in Arabic, it is pronounced as Rizvan in Persian.

Arabic script goes from right-to-left, and so it is correct; As for the Persian script in the text, note that pronunciation is different than transliteration. Transliteration allows for a 1-to-1 conversion from the original Persian script into English, and the ḍ is the correct letter. Regards -- Jeff3000 14:06, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed the Arabic spelling. Indeed the Arabic spelling is from right to left, and therefore it should be رضوان. Yelin 11:36, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Elections

[edit]

Maybe we should also add that the election of the local spiritual assemblies takes place on the first day of Ridván.--200.14.108.1 (talk) 18:57, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Seems prudent. I've had trouble finding a source on that though, unfortunately. I should probably ask my LSA :) May you go in God's care. Peter Deer (talk) 21:18, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Abrogation of jihad

[edit]

I've slightly edited the passage, as jihad is only permitted under certain conditions in Islam as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.108.8.38 (talk) 01:53, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
