Maybe countries are more important than TV shows

[edit]

Can someone please tell me why doesn't ROC redirect to Republic of China? --Fixman(Praise me)No animals were harmed with this edit, but they will be if you undo it —Preceding undated comment was added at 22:43, 24 September 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Please read WP:DAB#Primary topic. It is not enough to be the "most important" meaning. The topic has to be the primary meaning over all the other meanings. The clear majority of users who enter "roc" or "ROC" in the search box and hit Go would need to be looking for the Republic of China. I seriously doubt that is the case, and Google seems to support me; only nine of the first 100 Google hits for "roc" are about Republic of China. Prolog (talk) 13:23, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I however think that, while its very possible that someone typing "roc" not be referring to the republic of china (and roc should be a disambiguation page), ROC very probably refers to Republic of China, and should be a redirect to the latter, with it having a heading with a link to roc (the disambiguation page) --FixmanPraise me 06:04, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Then why do you keep blanking this dab page instead of using the project's process for requesting controversial moves? Blanking a dab page to hijack the title into one's preferred redirect is unacceptable and confusing to the readers. That is no different than blanking an article and creating your own in its place. It seems you have done this on other pages too. The status quo here was that ROC was a dab page until User:Ewlyahoocom moved it, providing no edit summary to justify his/her actions. My move was merely a revert. As the editor wishing to change the current situation, the burden of proof is on you. Prolog (talk) 18:10, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Little Correction @Prolog when we search on Google ROC, Republic of China Article page is the third in Google (français) Sorry (if it disturbs you). Dadapotato (talk) 17:17, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

RocRoc (disambiguation) — A few users insist on redirecting Roc to Republic of China so much that they actually keep blanking this dab page, so I guess I have no choice but to "request" a move myself. In case it's not clear... — Prolog (talk) 18:10, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On second thoughts, after Googling around, I'm much less sure that ROC redirecting to Republic of China is justified - far too many other uses, in capitals. PamD (talk) 17:38, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That was my conclusion, too. Andrewa (talk) 13:52, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
