Heart of Glass
[edit]Is there any proof that a CR-78 was used on this song? It does sound similar but could be a Roland TR-77 or other model. A similar mistaken use was on an Ultravox track Hiroshima Mon Amour, but this too was a Roland TR-77.--Bumfloof (talk) 10:02, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
- The intro to Heart of Glass is usually considered to be a CR-78, but this could be wrong if other information turned up.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 11:12, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
It's definitely a CR-78. It's use in this song has been discussed in documentaries and in a number of articlesAlexhaniha (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 05:11, 1 December 2011 (UTC).
mr bumfloof, can you support your contention that warren cann did not use a cr78 on (e.g.) "hiroshima.."? over at the warren cann entry, there's someone who thinks he did, & who seems to know quite a bit about the various hacks cann did to his various drumboxes & the band's minimoog too. the youtube clip dates from 1977, & the machine looks too slim to be a cr78, but mr cann was a regular customer of roland..... here's some useful stuff- ultravox.npage.de/warren-cann.html duncanrmi (not signed in because I'm on my ipad & it doesn't know my password) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.36.202.217 (talk) 22:00, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
In the Air Tonight
[edit]The drum machine on this track is definitely a Roland CR-78, see In the Air Tonight and Phil Collins discussing the track at [1].--Ianmacm 08:10, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
I have seen footage of Collins using a CR-78 on this and other tracks from that era. See the Classic Album series of TV programmes.--Bumfloof (talk) 10:05, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
River Blindness
[edit]I believe the J. Geils Band track 'River Blindness' uses the CR-78. If this can be confirmed, I would like to add it to the list of tracks with a distinctive usage of the CR-78. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 20.137.30.50 (talk) 15:40, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
