Super Smash Bros. Melee

In regards to the edit revert: Is there any source about where exactly SSMB is used to refer to Super Smash Bros. Melee? In my testing Google, Bing and Yahoo Search did not have many results related to Melee when looking up SSMB; the only two relevant results on the first few pages that came up were this page and the front page of SmashWiki (which does not have a SSMB redirect for Melee). From what I see, even the Super Smash Bros. wiki (SSBWiki) doesn't recognise that "SSMB = Melee", so I think it's safe to say that the Smash community doesn't consider this abbreviation as Melee. From the history of the page, it appears that it was a typo redirect (SSMB -> SSBM), so you can say it redirects to the Melee page, but somehow later editors missed the memo and assumed that it is a recognised abbreviation.

I have a feeling that the edit revert is only done because it turns it into a redirect. Maybe with more items in the disambiguation page, it's probably safe to remove Super Smash Bros. Melee from the list?Winstein-nin (talk) 13:04, 19 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
