[edit]There seems to have been some confusion between Shaw's Road on the one hand, and the Greater Gaeltacht Quarter in West Belfast on the other. Also, there was some confusion between Shaw's Road and Ráth Carn in the Republic of Ireland. I also added more accurate dates and fixed some facts that were just wrong. By the way, I have an account in the Scottish Gaelic Wiki, but I am not signed in on the English language side. I have never understood why that is. I must be doing something wrong. 194.35.219.117 (talk) 13:31, 22 May 2008 (UTC) Tim
THIS ARTICLE IS RUBBISH. SHAW'S ROAD IS NOT A GAELTACHT - THE RESIDENTS ARE NOT NATIVE SPEAKERS OF IRISH, BUT OF ENGLISH. THE FACT THAT PEOPLE WHO HAVE LEARNED IRISH MOVE IN NEXT DOOR TO EACH OTHER DOESN'T MAKE THIS AN "IRISH-SPEAKING AREA" ANY MORE THAN IF TWO PEOPLE WHO READ CICERO IN LATIN AND LIVE IN THE SAME ROAD SUDDENTLY MAKE THAT A "LATIN-SPEAKING ROAD". THE REAL GAELTACHT IS POPULATED BY NATIVE SPEAKERS SPEAKING DIALECTS OF TRADITIONAL IRISH. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.142.84.108 (talk) 14:32, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Your personal views about whether this is a real Gaeltacht or not are beside the point. The residents speak Irish together as their habitual language of interaction and they understand themselves as a Gaeltacht. And most importantly from Wikipedia's perspective, we have researched this and included trustworthy sources to verify it.--Lasairdhubh (talk) 12:00, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
