Cleanup

This piece really needs to be looked it. It seems like it's more a promotional piece than anything else. --Sloan47 05:11, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Current model?

[edit]

What does this mean:

The current (21st century) coffee prices are based on the 1980s model, rather than the 1950s model.

What is the "1980s model"? It seems clear to me that current price of a cup of coffee, in a given place, say restaurant X in city Y, depends on many things:

  • the quality of the coffee
  • the world market price for coffee
  • the neighborhood of restaurant X, the wealth of a typical customer of X
  • perhaps the price from last year
  • ... many more ...

not necessarily in that order. The owner of the restaurant will set a price, most likely not knowing what the price was in 1980 or in 1950. There is no 1950s model.
