I cannot find evidence that this war actually happened as described. According to reliable tertiary sources (below), the war did not involve the British in any meaningful way. Rather, between 1809 and 1820, in a series of campaigns, Maharaja Ranjit Singh consolidated his rule over the Punjab against minor princes and fought the Afghans for control of Kashmir. This page needs a revamp to reflect that.
