U.S.-centric

[edit]

I added the 'globalize' template. In spite of silver coins being minted continuously for 2500 years, the focus of this article is on U.s. silver coinage and its predecessors, such as the so-called Spanish dollar. This sentence says it all: "Silver coins circulated widely as money in Europe and later the Americas from before the time of Alexander the Great until the 1960s.". I know it's better to contribute than to complain. I'm just explaining - for now - why the template is there. Alfons Åberg (talk) 04:26, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding the Globalize template. This article needs a lot of work, not just in terms of its geographic focus. There is so much ancient history that should be included, for example.—Diiscool (talk) 14:40, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I took a stab at it. I know I left some of the sections very short. I intend to develop those sections further, so they are not forgotten. Alfons Åberg (talk) 17:39, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
