Jena, you already know this: we can't add information unless there's a reliable source that backs it up. Adding info after speaking to Simon's wife is original research, which isn't allowed on Wikipedia. If you find a reliable source, you can add it. I did leave Simon's birthplace in his infobox, though. Best, Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 16:25, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, we are new to having a wiki account so am hoping you receive this message. It is Lauren and Simon Pryce here and we have been trying to confirm that Simon was born in Sydney, not Melbourne. We aren’t sure when and where it ever became a thing that he was born in Melbourne.

We have changed it a few times recently but it keeps getting changed back and now the page is protected so we are unable to edit it. We have seen your account name come up on a few of the other edits so am hoping you can help. We have also written to Jena Fi and Le_Beaglelution to keep it correctly updated. Can you please update it for us and ensure it remains as Sydney.

Thanks so much we really appreciate it. Lauren and Simon. :) LPSP7286 (talk) 00:47, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lauren and Simon, I'm such a fan, as I hope the hard work and dedication for articles about the Wiggles demonstrate. Both my children, who are becoming adults, are severely developmentally disabled and have been profoundly helped by your music and TV shows. They grew up watching and listening to your music, so our household has been inundated with it. I get to listen to it every single day for the past 18 or so years. It was out of gratitude for the affect the group has had on them that I started working on these articles, some of the first ones I seriously worked on, edited, and improved. The Wiggles is a featured article, one of the best articles in Wikipedia, largely due to my efforts. I'm proud of it, and that ancillary articles like this one about Simon also tend to be high-quality. I've worked hard to ensure that they remain accurate and vandalism-free. These articles tend to be highly vandalized, as I'm sure you can imagine, so it's a lot of work. I don't mind, because it's always been a labor of love for me throughout the years.
That being said, there are some policies in place that we need to follow to ensure that Wikipedia remain the trustworthy source it is, even when the subjects of those articles object. One policy is WP:Verifiability, which states that everything we add to articles need to be supported by a reliable source. The other policy applicable here is WP:Original Research, which states that primary sources, like the subject of an article, cannot be used (see WP:PRIMARY). In other words, it's not enough that you tell Jena or I or any other editor to please change content; it has to be backed up by a reliable secondary source. As far as I know, there are currently no reliable sources that state Simon's birthplace. If I'm wrong about that, please give me a source and I will add it. The solution is for Simon to be interviewed by a source like the Sydney Morning Herald and tell them that he was born in Sydney; then we can add it. That being said, the current version of this article does not include Simon's birthplace, due to the fact that I'm unaware of any source that supports it. I did leave it in the infobox, though, since the content in infoboxes doesn't always have to be supported as strenuously. I hope that's an acceptable compromise.
On a side note, my family has never seen "the new Wiggles" perform live. (We've seen the Wiggles three times in concert, the OG group twice, and once when Sam Moran was a member.) Is there any way you can come to Spokane, Washington, USA so that can happen? ;) Christine (Figureskatingfan) (talk) 05:37, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I see that the info box now says Sydney so hopefully it won't be a problem anymore. but advice for ALL "celebrities" (as in virtually anyone who has a public presence in their job space) is to solicit a journalist to write a puff piece about themselves. technically it creates a contract of "the personality will answer questions about himself if journalist will include whatever data the personality wants to be included."
for birthplace correction the best place would be hometown newspaper because "the Bodunk Chronicle" of Bodunk Village will want every reader to know it's a home boy that made good. a second source could easily be published in an industry newspaper so while normal celebrities can ask TMZ to publish and Singers have Rolling Stone, a Chef might need a Culinary Magazine, while COO of Buggywhips INC might publish in "The BuggyWhip Times" :D 73.246.31.164 (talk) 12:51, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
