The picture of the improvised snowplow called a "large snowplow" in Washington is quite funny. This is what a big snowplow looks like - actually it's a normal-sized one in Finland. And throughout the world, much bigger ones are used on airport runways. --Espoo 09:44, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Railway snowploughs

[edit]

This article needs a section on the use of snowploughs by railways. Mjroots (talk) 15:13, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree absolutely. Are there any knowledgeable volunteers out there? Peter Horn 15:48, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not my area I'm afraid. Will raise at WP:TWP. Mjroots (talk) 04:26, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just had a crack at it, but it probably needs citations and ideally a picture or two. I can probably provide the latter, given time.--128.240.229.68 (talk) 21:53, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Remove Backhoe Image

[edit]

Does anyone have a problem with my removing the Backhoeplowingsnow.jpeg image? No offense to the creator, but it's a 270x227, purple tinted, blurry image, that you can't really see the backhoe attachment. I don't think it enhances the page, as you can't see what the snow plowing attachment is, and (insert bias here, I took the image) we have a large image of a grader plowing snow.

disambig and other cleanups

[edit]

I'm going to insert some language that makes clear this article relates to the device and not the vehicle. Winter service vehicle is already much longer and more detailed so I'm going to try and make sure the two pages are well differentiated. This is going to result in some deletions and c&p's not all of which will be cited until things get fully sorted, to anyone looking at the edit history. Also the "towplow" advertising is going to get greatly reduced. 66.220.113.98 (talk) 19:25, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Snow plow tech

[edit]

Do they have snow plows with grooves on the back like a triangle z shape? In my neighborhood my car got stuck cus the snow was packed. It seems like they can't break up the ice or something like stuck in the 90s somehow...idk. They just need those rear grooves on their plow or they aren't doing anything to the snow but making it into an ice skating ring. Jaw teeth in front also helps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.255.25.193 (talk) 16:59, 15 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Excess pictures

[edit]

The articles has a link to commons. It isn't necessary or ideal to squeeze as many images of snow plows here as possible, many of which are lower quality images or images that do not clearly demonstrate the plow. As per WP:IG moved unused images here. If you feel strongly about adding a gallery and a few sample images that are unique and clearly show what a plow is, then by all means. Spelling

[edit]

It appears that US English uses "plough" or "plow" while British and British-inspired English uses "plough" only. As there's consistency with one spelling, wouldn't it make more sense to use the shared spelling in the article? Gavinayling (talk) 16:34, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
