solanine
[edit]Although the article says (correctly) 'not to be confused with solanine', in fact ソラニン is simply a phonetic rendering of solanine -- i.e. the poison found in plants of the nightshade family, and, in particular, in potatoes when they turn green and begin to sprout. This connection with the story is explicitly referred to in the film version. viz. Japanese Wiki ja:ソラニン). 46.194.42.27 (talk) 16:35, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
