Info from Melbourne

[edit]

Theshiz, you are right that the correct way to deal with the Sports section of Melbourne being too long is to bring the info here, but you still need to do it more carefully. There still needs to be a summary section in the main article, and the info should be integrated into the article here, rather than simply copied. In particular, your edit removed information about some events outside Melbourne, and changed the focus of the introduction from Victoria as a whole to Melbourne. Restructure

[edit]

The page was giving a grossly inflated picture of minor sports like rugby league, whereas soccer, which is very popular was not even mentioned. I reshuffled it so that it now reflects the state of play in Victorian sport a little more accurately. --Rulesfan (talk) 00:14, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not really. Where are horse racing (which is #1 or #2 in the state) and motor racing, both of which pull significantly higher crowds than soccer. It looks to me almost like baiting the various football codes to an edit war, the Minor Sports tag is particularly WP:NPOV to me. --Falcadore (talk) 05:04, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Minor sports are over inflated. The funding increase by the NRL into Melbourne IS NOT of encyclopedia importance. Otherwise we could also write about how much AFL puts into their junior football. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dwu8991 (talkcontribs) 10:50, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Franchises?

[edit]

We have a section titled Current professional franchises in national competitions. It includes the AFL clubs. They are not franchises. It seems we are using some American style language in the heading. Not sure what to suggest, but it's wrong as it stands. HiLo48 (talk) 05:44, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bump. Anyone? HiLo48 (talk) 10:04, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have boldly removed the word. HiLo48 (talk) 12:27, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
