[edit]Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to 2 external links on Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add cbignore
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive https://web.archive.org/20070829203047/http://announce.curtin.edu.au/release2001/c5901.htm to http://announce.curtin.edu.au/release2001/c5901.htm

Orphaned references in Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 16:09, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
University or a DAI
[edit]After discussion, it has happened in 2018 on talk page Talk: List of universities in Sri Lanka authors have agreed to categorize higher education in Sri Lanka under three categories as Universities,degree-awarding bodies, and former universities. It is the categorization followed by the UGC, Ministry of Higher education, GoSL, and supreme court of the republic of SL. All other institutes and University pages are categorized according to this categorization. As I know SLIIT is also the same as NSBM, NIBM, SAITM,Horizon College of Business and Technology because of that I think it is justifiable introducing this institute as a DAI. Chathu69 08:36, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- UGC in Sri Lanka putting a categorization for the definition of Private University such as a Institute of Technology still means it falls under Private University. Those identify as Universities as well for example KAATSU International University and the Horizon website also says Horizon Campus is a leading private university in Sri Lanka geared to provide an inspiring learning experience to students in a holistic university atmosphere. If local categorization for Private University is DAI then DAIs should be categorized as Private Universities like you have done in the SLT Campus instead of putting convoluted local categorizations which just puts the literal definition of a University like you categorized the SLT Campus as a university. - UmdP 09:05, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
I think you misunderstood the UGC categorization because all the DAI are not Institute of Technology as an example if categorized Sri Lanka International Buddhist Academy as a Institute of Technology to put university name on there following your so-called definition it will be a joke. That's why I think authors have decided to follow this common categorization normally followed by Sri Lankan academic community and as an example, SLIIT introduced itself as a DAI, not a university on their website 1. If you wanna a new categorization I think it is good to discuss on all pages related to this matter without randomly editing one or two articles.Chathu69 09:34, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- I am aware that not all DAI are not IoI but IoI is a type of University. Local categorization of a Private University is still a private university and the above sources clearly show many categorized as such identify as Universities. Pushing for a random local categorization which is again the lietral definition of a University without saying the word does not change what is a Private University and thus the category should be private university not a arbitrary classification a single country use to categorize degrees. For example HELBUS is a private university despite Finland not categorizing it as a University or even accrediting any degrees. - UmdP 09:49, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
I think rather than focusing on very unpopular examples such as HELBUS, I think it is better to follow the common guidelines as in the List of universities in Sri Lanka, Higher education in Sri Lanka,CINEC, NIBM,NSBM,SAITM,2,3. Because of that I highly recommend to maintain introduction section in this article as it is mentioned in the above articles and its website without introducing new definition. - You can think whatever you want, editing isn't based on your POV. Its a Private University and therefore called a Private University, a University is what you call a Degree Awarding institute and not some other category just because a single country did some word play. Different countries can have different accreditation categories with different names but a duck is a duck. The examples of the pages you put like CINEC, SAITM and NIBM are categorized in the type as Private Universities or Business School which again is a type of university. - UmdP 12:06, 24 October 2021 (UTC)
- Guys, I don't think having a talk page discussion open and also simultanously edit warring is going to improve things... Resolve your dispute and stop edit warring, this is not very productive --Galebazz (talk) 16:58, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
Don't know if the above comments should be struck through, but User:Chathu69 was blocked as a sockpuppet last week, and IPs have been adding the user's content back since. --Lord Belbury (talk) 13:14, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
