Monitoring who?

[edit]

Storm Rider, you changed the lead sentence to say the Committee monitors the writings of "apostates". The sources are clear that this committee is about monitoring the writings of "members" of the church and the furthest anyone goes is Oaks who say it collects writings of those "suspected of apostasy". "Apostate", to me, suggests the person is no longer a member of the church due to apostasy. But you can be "suspected of apostasy" and still be a member; in fact, if a person is only suspected of apostasy, I think it's jumping the gun a bit to call that person "an apostate". (Perhaps the LDS Church courts don't have any sort of "innocent until proven guilty" principle enshrined, but I think maintaining the distinction in WP is only fair to those who are "suspected".) In my opinion, your change completely changed the meaning of the lead sentence from the Committee monitoring members' publications to one that monitors publications of ex-member "apostates" like the Tanners, or other "anti-Mormons". Potential sources

[edit]

Sources are very hard to come by for this topic, but I'm leaving the following here to be investigated since they link to potential sources. I have no idea of the quality of the sources or the information found therein, so that should be evaluated before use:
