It seems like "Swan Song" should have a disambiguation page. At the moment, "Swan Song" redirects here, and "Swan song" goes elsewhere to an article about mute-swan-related myths, and that article in turn mentions this (Swan Song Records) and a novel by Robert R. McCammon. (Search results are capitalization dependant.)

Agreed. Done. Swan Song no longer redirects. Other uses at Swan song have been moved to Swan Song. TheMadBaron 06:22, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have a 1977 issue of Detective's It Takes One To Know One - perhaps the 1978 issue is a rerelease? Did this list of releases come from Swan Song?

I noticed that this article says that the label's logo is a depiction of Apollo often misinterprited as a depiction of Icarus or Satan, whereas the Led Zeppelin article says the logo is a depiction of Icarus. I'm not sure which of these is true, but I would imagine it to be a depiction of Icarus. Since I don't know for a fact which is true, I won't edit, but if someone who knows would...

Needs references

[edit]

This article has no citations or references. Of particular concern is the note on the label's logo, which is mentioned in several other articles. Is the logo icarus or is it apollo, a google search will turn up support for both.

Well, for one, In every reference out there it is listed as Icarus. Like t-shirts, television allusions, etc. Also, to end the myth...The symbol is taken from a 19th century painting by William Rimmer of Apollo, the Sun God. It has, according to Robert Plant been transformed into a formation of Icarus. The stunning origianl painting can be found in the Museum Of Fine Arts, in Boston. Therefore it is NOT Apollo, but rather Icarus. Thus no misconception.

_____________________________________

Concerning the label's logo, I have found numerous places that support the idea that Robert Plant changed the painting "Evening: Fall of Day" of Apollo into a picture of Icarus. I am yet to find a truly credible resource that shows any evidence of Robert Plant's changes. Does it exist? Interesting note: Apollo was born on the island of Delos, which was surrounded by swans. One could point to this as evidence that the logo is a picture of apollo, given that the company's name is "Swan Song"

_____________________________________

Given that the logo is known to be drawn from the Rimmer painting of Apollo, I think it is appropriate for the article to note the source of the logo. If it's to be noted that the logo depicts Icarus, we should probably find a source for that - a quote from Robert Plant, for instance. - DNashIV

Apollo?

[edit]

I would have to agree with a previous persons comment on the fact that the logo is a picture of Icarus not apollo. Apollo didn't have any wings while Icarus was known for having man made wings and flying too close to the sun which was ultimately his demise.

look down a bit and you can see the name of one of the posters.

Sing Swan Song?

[edit]

There's a song by the band Can on the album Ege Bamyasi called Sing Swan Song. Any relation to the name of their record company? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.121.245.55 (talk) 15:09, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First paragraph, History

[edit]

The first paragraph contains a rather clumsy insertion, and an unverified reference to "Swan Song Studios".

The History section has had a sentence inserted with the same "Swan Song Studios" reference, beginning with the capitalized "BUT NOT ACCORDING TO JIMMY PAGE...". There's a poor attempt to reconcile the label's history with updates to the present day activities of Jimmy Page (which, again, are unverified). The sentence structure is utterly hideous. Clearly, this needs re-editing, and perhaps a lock. 2001:558:6016:33:75E8:F4E7:E337:8E69 (talk) 16:58, 21 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
