- I concur. Anyone thinks otherwise, speak now... Noel (talk) 18:22, 23 September 2005 (UTC)
- I made a start creating new pages for the several terms. I'll probably get around to making this page into a dab sometime this week. -Shai-kun 17:15, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
Tack vs. Tact
[edit]I often hear people confusing "tack" with "tact" in conversation, i.e. "I'm going to take a different tact on this." * 'tack' and 'tact' are two completely different words with completely different meanings. The only similarity is that the first two letters are 'ta'. Suggest there is an entry for tack as used in a conversation. eg 'I am going to take a different tack to solve this problem....' meaning 'I am going to take a different approach to solve this problem....' I do not think that it is necessary to clarify in wikepedia all the potential misuses of words but that is just my personal opinion! Boatman 15:21, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
I am looking for some guidance on this. I believe that tack is the correct word to use for a document I am preparing, but not sure. Taking a different tack on a project (meaning taking a different direction) makes sense to me in the sailing terminology, but nothing in the Wikepedia entry mentions this use of the word. - may 18 2007
