Any Examples Of Tamar's Whistle Notes

[edit]

Could anybody give me the name of the songs in which Tamar hits her Whistle Notes, I'd love to hear it.

In "Money Can't Buy You Love" she hits D7. Myke 07:27, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone know her longest note

Lowest Note

[edit]

Does anyone know her lowest notes(better yet, Vocal Profile)

Vocal Profile

[edit]
  • Voice type: Lyric Coloratura Soprano
  • Highest note: D7 (Money Can't Buy You Love), E7, F7
  • Lowest note: E3
  • Vocal range: 5 octaves

www.reference.com/encyclopedia still has the vocal profiles that were taken off wikipedia. Myke 07:56, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dropped from Casablanca?

[edit]

Tamar Braxton has since been dropped from Casablanca Records. <-- WHERE IS YOUR SOURCE?

I cut this since I am not sure she was dropped and another editor added the request for a source. Antares33712 14:31, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is no source that Tamar Braxton signed with Casablanca Records. Please provide one Riker5589 10:04 P.M., July 17, 2006

IS MONEY CAN'T BUY YOU LOVE THE ONLY SONG SHE USES WHISTLE REGISTER IN BECAUSE I HATE THAT SONG. SOMEONE PLEASE CHECK IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER SONGS IN WHICH SHE USES WHISTLE REGISTER.

Doubts to her coloratura?

[edit]

It doesn't take a published source to hear a whistle note. Buy a copy of her album and lsten to track 4 (approximately 2:42 seconds into the song). Enjoy Antares33712 14:02, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Voice and sourcing statements

[edit]

Before anyone restores comments on her voice, please read WP:LIVING. As Youtube accepts submissions from all members of the public, music or videos posted up there cannot be used as verifiable sources. Surely such things as the statements that have sadly had to have been removed have been said in interviews? LinaMishima 17:03, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Many singers just sing and are unaware of their note ranges..--I'll bring the food 17:21, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure of that. But there has to be comentators, djs, professors... someone who has made such comments. It seems to me that we have an unfortunate situation. certain facts may be considered unnotable to those experienced in the field (eg, a musician's vocal range) and hence never get written down. However to those who are interested but not experts, such information is desired. LinaMishima 18:22, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think requiring an outside person to see if a note is whistle register is like needing someone to tell me the grass is green or whether the sky is blue. But I don't care anymore. This has convinced me its time to leave Antares33712 19:50, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
She is known as the highest voice out of the sisters with Toni as their lowest. Her note in Money Can't Buy You Love is D7. Thats pretty high in the whistle register. Thats the top of most Coloratura's ranges. I'm pretty sure she knew how high she was singing. Myke 00:04, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Switching Sisters???

[edit]

Which sister are we talking about here - Toni or Tamar?

When I read the beginning of the second paragraph ("One day, Toni (who had no real aspirations of show business at that point) was pumping gas at a local gas station while singing along, when she caught the attention of a producer. He heard her sing, and decided to pull the five sisters into a group; he envisioned a female version of the Jackson 5. They released a single on Atlantic Records in 1990 as "The Braxtons," and caught the attention of producers Antonio "L.A" Reid and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds...."), the text referred seemingly to Tamar's sister, Toni Braxton.

Also, the organization of the article shifts haphazardly from Tamar, to Toni, to The Braxtons (sister group), and back to Tamar without a focus squarely on Tamar herself. This organization makes the article look as though it was put together in a piecemeal fashion.

Also, I could swear that I saw some of this content at another site online some time ago (in a promotional writeup for Toni Braxton's bio?), so I'll check later for a source to see whether parts of this article suggests a possible a copyrighted violation.

Birthdate and her age

[edit]

Her birthday is March 17, 1977 I know for a fact because she said it in one of her interviews plus she said she was 36 on the 2013 Soul Train Awards on December 1st.

The article may be improved by following the WikiProject Biography 11 easy steps to producing at least a B article. -- KenWalker | Talk 07:34, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vitiligo.... confirmed by legitimate enough source (Michael Jackson's skin disease)

[edit]

She has vitiligo (same as Michael Jackson). The disorder that causes loss/change of skin pigmentation, typically in patches. Source http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/07/tamar-braxton-vitiligo-skin-bleaching-rumors_n_2259582.html184.189.220.114 (talk) 00:33, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"On an episode of The Real, Braxton revealed that she suffered from vitiligo.[87][88] On November 10, 2015, Braxton discovered that she had several pulmonary embolisms in her lungs. The illness forced her to withdraw from Dancing with the Stars." Dang, who was writing this? Vitiligo has nothing to do with pulmonary embolisms. Braxton had to withdraw because of thoracic outlet syndrome (look it up on Wikipedia) which was the probable source of those embolisms. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Godofredo29 (talkcontribs) 00:43, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Third album vs. Christmas album

[edit]

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am tired of changing this article around to it's correct state. I am addressing the fact that Tamar Braxton's has not released a third STUDIO ALBUM yet as of August 2014. Her CHRISTMAS ALBUM, Winter's Loversland does not count as a third studio album (except for as a third studio album OVERALL). This does not mean that it is her third studio album. Braxton is currently working on her third studio album after Love and War. EricEgo2012 10:03, 28 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Winter's Loversland is her first Christmas album and THIRD studio album. Tamar + Love and War + Winters Loversland = 3 albums. Wikipedia's definition of a studio album - "A studio album is an album of audio recordings made up of tracks recorded in a recording studio." - that's EXACTLY what Winter's Loversland is. Even Mariah Carey's Christmas albums are listed as studio albums - Merry Christmas (Mariah Carey album) and Merry Christmas II You. And Michael Buble's Christmas album too - Christmas (Michael Bublé album). Now please stop changing/removing the album. KRDilemma (talk) 23:16, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Beyoncé As An Influence

[edit]

Tamar list Beyoncé as one her main influences. She's said it many time over the course of "Braxton Family Values." Hell, she even dressed up as her when all the sisters dressed up as their favorite celebrity. Please stop reverting it.

    • According to Wikipedia's guidelines, YouTube isn't considered to be a reliable source- you would do much better to find something where the artists and/or person says something in print. In the case of YouTube- as I have seen very often- more than likely a YouTube citation is challenged and possibly removed. Shallowharold (talk) 16:22, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Tamar Braxton

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Tamar Braxton's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "Catfish":

  • From Calling All Lovers: "Ultimate Music - Tamar Braxton "Catfish" (Official Single Cover)". Ultimate Music.
  • From Calling All Lovers: http://www.josepvinaixa.com/blog/tamar-braxton-catfish/

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 19:48, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Name change

[edit]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj1jOg5uOtQ was used as a reference to show that Tamar Estine Braxton legally changed her name to Tamar Estine Braxton-Herbert. I examined the video and found a lot of conversations about hypothetical name changes but saw nothing there were Braxton explicitely stated she had made that specific change in her legal name. Her official site and all other sources show Braxton as her last name. If the info is in the video and I missed it, it would be helpful if {{Cite AV media}} with a timestamp and a quote were provided as the reference instead of just a link.
