Japanese animation production is significantly different from American animation production in terms of production systems, and as this seems to follow the Japanese system aside from a showrunner's involvement, the credits here should also reflect that. Kudou was the "series director", but he did not directly process ("direct"/演出) the episodes themselves aside from the finale, which he has such a credit for. The translation of these credits doesn't use the "Episode director" terminology, instead calling them "Animation directors" (in separate reference to the drawing directors, credited instead as Animation Supervisors).
