Sub stub

[edit]

I've removed examples of specific games, as they were oodly chosen at best and advertising at worst. This has left this article as a sub-stub. It also appears never to have had references. - brenneman {L} 07:00, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Emulators

[edit]

FreeDOS is not an emulator, is an operating system. It may be booted into an emulator but that's another story. Nodurosul (talk) 11:58, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unix-like

[edit]

"In modern computers, text-based software, usually accessed by the terminal or a console window, still exists in Unix and Linux operating systems". In modern days, Unix is no longer a single operating system, there are many Unix-like operating systems (GNU-Linux, Minix, *BSD, Solaris, Darwin, HP-UX etc.) and are all based on CLI. Citation Needed

[edit]

Why is the citation needed tag sprayed all over the last section like an idiot sprays lemonade at his monitor when he sees a cat fall off a table on youtube? Does the article on the sky need [citation needed] when it mentions that the sky is blue? Is literally every single sentence in the whole of wikipedia to be cited or are perhaps some things obvious yet? The fact that the sentence "Text-based software also has limitations on its output as well." is even flagged is completely stupid; surely by logical principle anything that is restricted to one medium of output has limitations in that it can't output in other ways? This happens across many articles, done by passive-agressive editors who want to undermine statements that they disagree with and it contributes to Wikipedia's overall impression of a lack of concensus and absence of professionalism in article construction. 82.17.240.190 (talk) 19:08, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with the above comment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.94.121.137 (talk) 19:24, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think you need a study proving that novice computer users struggle with text based programs. --Palaceofhate (talk) 21:15, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

novice computer users struggle with everything (especially grammar and spelling). For better context, look at the anon's editing history (provided that it's from a static IP) Tedickey (talk) 21:32, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Are you seriously trying to argue that you need a cite to say that text based programs are easier for beginners? --Palaceofhate (talk) 21:35, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Without a cite, it's an opinion. Tedickey (talk) 22:09, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Look at me, I'm Wiki user Tedickey! Someone out there spells poorly! Haha! Third degree burn! Oh wait nope sorry it's not a static IP, you're a complete disgrace of an editor. 82.17.240.190 (talk) 09:35, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
