Fast 8Fast & Furious 8 – Media is frequently referring to it as Fast and/& Furious 8.[1][2][3]] Unreal7 (talk) 20:06, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose – The people involved with the film themselves have gone with the name Fast 8, and this recent poster released by Diesel only proves it. I'm opposed to just changing it because a few media outlets have gone with a different name – especially because it's not the only name that they use. This is more about common sense than actual Wikipedia policy here, and I understand that it doesn't always work like that, but that's my take on it all. 4TheWynne(talk)(contribs) 21:59, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - A few media outlets using the longer name doesn't make it more common, and more evidence than just 3 sources would need to presented to prove that. - BilCat (talk) 04:00, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Lucas Black

[edit]

Lucas Black is listed here as being in the movie, but there has been no real confirmation from anyone that he is in it. Additionally, Lucas Black had an interview with Chris Mannix saying he wouldn't be in the movie. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaybling (talkcontribs) 20:37, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

But when a mysterious woman (Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before. From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage…and to bring home the man who made them a family.

This is about Jaybling's edit that Lucas Black confirmed not to be in The Fate of the Furious. Is that really true? Is there a link that proves so? I can't find any post on Twitter or any other new posts that confirms it. I didn't see his character Sean Boswell in the trailer, but I didn't see Tego Leo (played by Tego Calderon) and Rico Santos (played by Don Omar), who are supposed to be returning for the first time since Fast Five. But is there a link or any proof that Lucas Black isn't returning as Sean? 24.185.234.172 (talk) 22:10, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

What F. Gary Gray is best known for ...

[edit]

The current article states "Gray, best known for directing Straight Outta Compton (2015)". Can this be changed or edited?

Straight Outta Compton was Gray's 9th film. The previous 8 films include Friday, which has a 77% on Rotten Tomatoes and has had a healthy home video and cable run, 3 films (Be Cool, The Italian Job, and Law Abiding Citizen) that cleared $95 million in box office receipts, and The Negotiator, which at the time was the highest-budgeted film directed by an African-American. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phimu222 (talkcontribs) 04:22, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Phimu222, I don't know about you, but I reckon Straight Outta Compton trumps most of those. Even if everything you're saying is true, you're missing the point of the sentence – it's about what he's best known for (whether it be good or bad), not which was his best or most successful film. I would just leave it how it is. 4TheWynne(talk)(contribs) 06:51, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I will have to err on the side of Wynne here. For what it's worth, Compton is quite the gem in Gary Gray's filmography – it received praise from critics, as well as several awards and nominations in a variety of categories from award-giving bodies. So I think it's only logical that it's his well-known film. Sure, Friday could be the other gem, but then again it was his debut film and perhaps only gathered a cult following right after it hit the shelves; it only had a limited release at the time. Missing Plot

[edit]

The article has no plot nor premise. Please write the plot A.S.A.P — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drumerwritter (talkcontribs) 19:23, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Will do, just saw the movie. Can't gurantee a deatailed plot though. Though since I'm not autoconfirmed, I'll post the draft here. (talk) 16:33, 14 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
After defeating Deckard Shaw and retrieving the God's eye, Dominic "Dom" Toretto, and his wife, Letty Ortiz go for a honeymoon in Cuba. Meanwhile, Dom's cousin can't pay back a loan, so Dom challenges his cousin's creditor (don't know name) to a street race offering his pink slip as the prize. After winning the race, Dom refuses the keys to (creditor)'s car, and instead gives his car to his cousin. Later on, Dom offers help to a woman (Charlize Theron) with a car only to discover that she has planned their meeting. She then blackmails Dom into working for her, stating that he will have to break his morals and face his own crew.
Back in the US, Luke Hobbs is coaching his daughter's football team. A man then interrupts him, asking him to steal an EMP from a facility in Berlin for national security. Hobbs calls Dom and tells him to gather the team. The heist is successful, until Dom rams his vehicle into Hobbs and steals the EMP. (That's all for now, I'm heading to sleep.) 18:26, 14 April 2017 (UTC) EhLix12

Frank Petty

[edit]

As far as real RSes go, "Frank Petty" was a name used only during the early development stages of Furious 7. IIRC the credits for Fate only go with "Mr Nobody" (and, on that note, Little Nobody). Nobody ever calls him Frank Petty in neither 7 nor 8. If you insist on reinstating that name and wish to prove me wrong, please cite it with a real RS (and not blogs/entertainment websites that probably nicked off a good half of their info from OUR page...) Kingoflettuce (talk) 14:49, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, to be fair, both names have been used for basically the whole time that this page has had a cast section until you went and removed them, and nobody else has had a problem with them being there – if your stance is, "As far as real reliable sources go, Frank Petty was a name used only during the early development stages of Furious 7", then perhaps that's something that you ought to prove as well. OK, maybe I didn't use the best example, I'll admit to that – but you don't have to be aggressive about it. I'm just trying to include all the information that I can – even if the names Frank Petty and Eric Reisner are no longer used, at least they're proper names which add to the characters as opposed to just giving them nicknames. Anyway, if you're going to push so hard to not have these names in the plot section, fine – but I believe it would be quite beneficial to have both names in the cast section. My opinion, but if you want to revert me again, fine. 4TheWynne(talk)(contribs) 12:37, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for finally responding here, @4TheWynne:. But "Actually, to be fair, both names have been used for basically the whole time that this page has had a cast section until you went and removed them, and nobody else has had a problem with them being there." is such a bad premise -- so a problem isn't a problem if it has been there "basically the whole time" and everybody has been oblivious to it? This is how problems perpetuate and misinformation spreads. Our job is to provide accurate information for current readers and posterity. In fact, ditto what I said about it being used during the early development stages -- that was dubious info from a wikia. I would be totally cool with mentioning these two no-longer-used names in the body of the article, but having done (you all made me...) even more research about it, I really cannot find anything credible related to an FF8 "Frank Petty" (have you Googled for RSses before this page was created -- and the hoax began?). I hope you can see where I'm coming from -- not nitpicking, I just want to dispel this false info that isn't present in the film and needs backing by an RS or two which I simply cannot find and neither can anyone else (or the person who introduced the info). Till then, I'm sorry but I will revert. Thanks. Kingoflettuce (talk) 14:27, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
OK, maybe there's something to be said for pre-development, but again, people can read more in the Characters page: not true or relevant in this particular one. Kingoflettuce (talk) 14:33, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The common name for the character, and also shown in the closing credits, should be Mr. Nobody and Little Nobody. The real names and other names can be detailed in the characters list or in production sections. The script would show Mr. Nobody and Little Nobody as well, but I would have to check the captions and English descriptive audio for the film to confirm. I've placed the real names right afterwards with sources since there are critics who are writing reviews using those character names. Patrick St. Esprit

[edit]

After the star billing in the opening credits with Charlize Theron, Leo and Santo's actors are listed but also Patrick St. Esprit. Should he get a sentence in the Cast section? He plays DS Allen. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 15:48, 25 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
