Just a small thing

[edit]

"the Habsburgs, Russia, and Prussia forced King Stanislaus to abdicate and retire to St. Petersburg, where he died as Catherine II's trophy prisoner in 1798"

But Catherine II died on the 17th November 1796, before Stanislaus !

Just a big thing !

[edit]

"Even this, however, came to an end after a Polish insurrection in 1831, at which point Russia dissolved the Congress Kingdom"

1) The formula "Congress Poland" has no official meaning at this time : it is the "Kingdom of Poland".

2) After the 1830-1831 insurrection, tsar Nicolas 1st published on 14/26 February 1832 the text "Organic statute for the administration of the Kingdom of Poland", in which the formula "kingdom of Poland" is mentioned around 36 times !

See : https://mjp.univ-perp.fr/constit/pl1832.htm (French translation).

There has NEVER been any "dissolution" of the Kingdom of Poland (aka "Congress Kingdom" aka "Congress Poland") ; but between 1865 (not 1831) and 1905, this name was prohibited in official documents.

The "Civil Code of the Kingdom of Poland" was in use from 1815 to 1918 on the territory specified by the Congress of Vienna.
