I think that there needs to be a bit more on the inspiration for the album, and I provided a link back to Cassie Burnell's page. I remember the rumors vividly, and the incredible impact they had on the evangelical community, but I'm struggling to find suitable cites. So far this one [1], with people writing about what the song and album meant to them, is the only one I can find. ChristinaDunigan 17:14, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Release date
[edit]There seems to be some uncertainty about the release date of this album. I have found two sources giving different dates: Jesus Freak Hideout mentions January 12, 1999 (which is also listed in this article), but AllMusic says November 23, 1999. I assume it should be November 23, because the title track was inspired by the Columbine shooting, which occurred in April 1999. Nielshoogvliet (talk) 20:01, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
- http://www.crossrhythms.co.uk/products/Michael_W_Smith/This_Is_Your_Time/1715/ review, which is usually close to the release date, is February 2000.
- https://www.amazon.ca/This-Your-Time-Michael-Smith/dp/B00002SWMT/ref=sr_1_11 agrees with November.
- https://www.ccmmagazine.com/features/michael-w-smith-soverign-state/ argues that it was following Columbine, and old reviews are not easily accessed.
- Powell, Mark Allan (2002). Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music. Peabody, Massachusetts: Hendrickson Publishers. p. 841. ISBN 1-56563-679-1. confirms the Columbine connection. I think it is safe to say the JHF date is wrong, and probably closer in-line with the Cross Rhythms late review date and should be January 2000 not 1999. - I have found some more sources as well:
- Dicogs - 1999
- muziekweb.nl (Dutch music database) - November 1999
- Spotify - 1999
- Beliefnet - 1999
- Barnes & Noble - November 23, 1999
- michaelwsmith.net (fan site) - 1999
- For me it's clear that the correct date should be November 23, 1999. It seems like Cross Rhythms was a bit late with their review this time ;) Nielshoogvliet (talk) 11:39, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
