Merger proposal

[edit]

I removed the tag about merging this into develomental aid. While I think its important that developmental aid talks about Tied Aid, Tied Aid is certainly its own specific type of aid, and is a large enough issue that it should have its own page.

merging pages on "Tied aid" and "Untied aid" + discrepancy on OECD figures

[edit]

Two suggestions open for discussion:

1. Creating a single page for "Tied and untied aid", if possible. The current page on Untied aid is short and includes elements already available on the longer "Tied aid" page.

2. The "Tied aid" page mentions that:

"Currently OECD estimates that 41.7 percent of Official Development Assistance is untied (OECD 2006:31)."

In a recent survey carried out by OECD ("2006 Survey on Monitoring the Paris Declaration", pre-publication copy) it is written on page 30:

"It [the survey] shows that in the 34 countries [included in the survey] 75% of aid is untied as compared to 78% in all other countries included in the OECD records."

Where does the 41.7 %, quoted as a 2006 OECD figure in the Wiki page, come from? Which is the correct 2006 OECD figure: 41.7% or 78%? The stark difference - majority tied in the one figure, majority untied in the other - warrants a definitive and verifiable quote on this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ed Lamot (talkcontribs) 13:07, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
