Orphaned references in Timeline of Brooklyn history

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Timeline of Brooklyn history's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

  • From Brooklyn Borough Hall: "National Register Information System". National Register of Historic Places. National Park Service. March 13, 2009.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 14:35, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Restored

[edit]

Ah. A few days ago when I suggested that the new, somewhat rough timeline added more bulk than value to the old History of Brooklyn article, I didn't realize it was actually an old, rough timeline that had been merged. Somehow I missed the pre-merger discussion, and the edit comment that stated the provenance of the timeline section. If someone thinks similarly large changes ought to be carried out, I recommend a more prominent notice of merger or split, a few days in advance so others can say it's a good idea or bad, or can say there are better ways to do it.

Meanwhile if editors think the timeline is worth improving, mainly by dropping unnotable items or trimming fat bullet points that repeat what belongs in another linked Wikipedia page, please go ahead. Moving material from the history article to here might also be a good idea, and maybe even a little bit of vice versa. Jim.henderson (talk) 14:38, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's definitely the latter but I don't understand the citation format. Jim.henderson (talk) 21:51, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Page layout

[edit]

Any interest in revising the article layout? The current design is fine, but by comparison, the design of Timeline of the San Francisco Bay Area streamlines the layout of years with multiple events (centered headings, fewer bullet points, etc.). Following the San Francisco model, the layout of the Timeline of Boston was recently revised; see changes here. Thoughts? -- M2545 (talk) 09:19, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
