1811

[edit]

The 1811 discovery was an ichthyosaur I believe.--Wetman (talk) 19:00, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

My source verifies Anning's discovery of a plesiosaur that year, although it's quite likely she found both. Abyssal (talk) 20:42, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Taxa by year

[edit]

If anyone ever sets their heart on updating this timeline, they might consider listing the taxa described by year and how they were interpreted at the time. This expansion would probably increase the article's size beyond the receommended 100 kb, and the article could be split by century and/or decade as growth dictates. I actually compiled a list of generic descriptions by year that has been rotting in my user space for a few years and will include it below for any interested editors.
