Top Deck was a low alcohol shandy drink available in a variety of flavours and marketed to children[my emphasis]
The referenced BBC article never actually claims that it was "marketed to children". In fact, it says little about Top Deck itself beyond a passing mention
Corona limeade. Idris lemon squash. Top Deck shandy. Strawberry-flavoured Cresta.
If you spent your childhood in the UK in the 1960s and 1970s, these and many other soft-drink brands of the era will immediately summon up a great frothy wave of nostalgia.
Well, I vaguely remember seeing Top Deck on sale as a child during the 80s. Maybe some kids *did* buy them back then?
But that's very different from claiming that Top Deck was specifically marketed towards them...!
I've noticed someone else claim this too, but they may well have been mis-remembering or going by this article, and we should be wary of circular references *if* we've been the ones responsible for propagating misinformation in the first place.
