Re: Characters

[edit]

Uh, yeah, this article is only 15KB long. According to WP:SS, that is not long enough to constitute a viable split, especially when it makes up about have of this article's content, so I have restored it. It's generally good to discuss article splits unless it's painfully obvious (such as if the characters list was over 25KB or more I'd say, or if this article was over 30KB from the start).-- 03:16, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Character info vs. Plot summary

[edit]

Please keep in mind that character entries are meant to describe the characters, not necessarily what happens to them throughout the course of the story. I removed what I removed because it involved summaries of the last couple of episodes of the anime, and those can be easily found on the episode list, plus we do not want to bloat these character bios with unnecessary fancruft. For reference, see the featured list List of Naruto characters for an example of how character entries should be written.-- 06:58, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think the problem is this: how do we decide how much to actually include? Does the character bio only list information known at the start of the series, or the end of it? If we take a "just the facts" approach, then mentioning some plot detail is inevitable. For example, if Taiga develops an emotional attachment to Ruiji, that is a significant detail about her character... and as such, should probably be included in her bio. I agree it will be difficult to deal with this without going to the excess of fancruft, but we should allow some of the more important plot points to make it in here. I'd be interested to hear what others think on this issue. David Bailey (talk) 16:08, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I know some plot summary is unavoidable, but going into excessive detail is too much. To use your analogy, it would be fine to have a sentence that said "Throughout the series, Taiga grows closer to Ryuji, eventually falling in love and becoming a couple" but writing about all that happened to get to that point would be unnecessary.-- 02:47, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of plot summary, the plot section seems too lacking and resembles more what you would find on the back of a DVD case than a summary of the plot. In particular, a large part of the plot, including all of the events surrounding one of the main characters, Ami, is omitted, whereas the events that occur in the beginning are described with quite some detail.Darkfeline (talk) 02:44, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Taiga's race

[edit]

Book 9, in the Baka Tsuki translation, says "The pregnant woman who had a lighter shade of brown hair than Taiga's had a calm expression on her non-Japanese-looking face, was Taiga's mother." This would seem to imply Taiga is a hafu or something (and also explains the brown hair). Doesn't seem to be covered in her blurb. --Gwern (contribs) 16:04 10 September 2010 (GMT)

This is a Harem Anime?

[edit]

How would this fall under the genre of being a harem anime? Yes it has three characters in it that are the opposite sex as Ryuji but he is not surrounded by them amorously (Minori does not really show much affection for Ryuji other than being a friend). As for the story it focuses mostly on the developing relationship between Taiga and Ryuji, and I think this is POV info to place in without a reliable source. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 02:37, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Are there any reliable sources that call it a harem or mention harem aspects of the series? Personally, I would say that this is an example of a love polygon instead of a harem. But to call this a harem without support from a reliable source is just us making stuff up. —Farix (t | c) 10:22, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Would also not calling it a harem anime. It is clearly a story with triangle relationships. --/人 ‿‿ 人\ 署名の宣言 12:11, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment

[edit]

Adding feedback from WP:ANIME/ASSESS: AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:46, 17 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's quite a comprehensive work AngusWOOF, but, in addition of missing a production section (which sometimes is almost impossible to create), there are other drawbacks. 1) The lead is not properly summarizing the article: there's no information on the series' reception and there's a discussion about the title that's not presented in the body (you can move this information to a footnote or you can incorporate in the body–maybe on a possible "production" section or just in the "media" section). 2) You do have to source some parts in "Characters" tagged with "volume & issue needed" (since 2016), as well as parts in "Light novels", "Internet radio show", and "Video games". Also, not sure why there's a "citation need" tag along with ref 40-backed(?) sentence. Gabriel Yuji (talk) 22:35, 22 October 2018 (UTC)

Character height

[edit]

Why is the height listed in feet despite the original number in centimeters? Opecuted (talk) 04:42, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

We can use {{convert}} for the cm. I've updated the note appropriately. Need reference to the manga profile that confirms her height though.
2600:8804:4e10:7400:800b:c321:fd92:557d, in the anime episode 5 around the last 3-4 minutes of the episode, Taiga says "5 feet 5 inches...and a name like Sailor Mercury who cares about that?" but that's in reference to Ami's height, and the captions read "So what if she's 165 centimeters tall?" AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 19:43, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Light novel volume 2 girls profiles show Ami to be the 165 cm and Taiga to be 145 cm (self-declared) 143.6 cm (actual). AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 20:17, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
