- Tran Duc Thao a été élève de l’Ecole normale supérieure, rue d’Ulm. Il a rédigé un diplôme d’études supérieures (DES) sur Hegel, avant de se présenter au concours de l’agrégation de philosopohie, où il a été admis premier ex aequo avec Jules Vuillemin. Entre 1980 et 1992, il était retourné au Vièt-Nam. Revenu à Paris , il vécu pauvrement dans un local de l’ambassade du Viet-Nam, et mourut dans la rue. Son corps a été incinéré au columbarium du Père-Lachaise.
