Airdrie Savings Bank
[edit]The Airdrie Savings Bank is still going; I think it's the only one of its kind remaining. 86.132.141.139 (talk) 18:42, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Proceeds of sale
[edit]The government did not receive the proceeds of the TSB sell off. This was retained by the bank —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.92.40.49 (talk) 10:04, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
- Right. I just rewrote the incorrect sentence. --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 08:53, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
The "new" TSB
[edit]Lloyds Banking Group is in the process of forming a new bank under the TSB brand and transfering it to a new owner. The new bank will be registered as TSB Bank plc and will trade simply as 'TSB'. When the new bank is officially launched, this page could be moved to "TSB (United Kingdom bank)" or "TSB Bank (United Kingdom)" as the current title "Trustee Savings Bank" has not been used officially by the bank since it was floated as 'TSB Group plc' in the mid-80s and can now be considered a historic rather than current name.
"TSB Bank" and "TSB (bank)" would not be suitable page titles as there is also a 'TSB Bank' in New Zealand - it's article could also be moved from "TSB Bank" to "TSB Bank (New Zealand)" to disambiguate it form the new UK 'TSB'. Dn9ahx (talk) 20:27, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
- I've created TSB Bank (United Kingdom) for the new organisation, and reduced the amount of information about it in this article. As the new TSB Bank plc will be a rebranded Lloyds TSB Scotland plc, it should remain a separate article from Trustee Savings Bank which should focus on what eventually became TSB Group plc. Cloudbound (talk) 23:02, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
- Judging by the new ad, they're going very hard for the angle that this is a continuation of the old bank rather than a new bank with an old name. whether than warrants them both being part of the same article I'll leave for others to figure out Aldaden (talk) 21:53, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
Logo
[edit]The old TSB logo was removed from this page and replaced with the 2013 version. This is not correct as the new logo only applies to the new TSB bank, not the Trustee Savings Bank. I have put the old logo back on.

Merge proposal
[edit]I propose merging Trustee Savings Bank into TSB Bank (United Kingdom). It's weird that the pre-1999 Trustee Savings Bank and the current post-2013 TSB Bank have separate pages while the pre-1999 Lloyds Bank and the current post-2013 Lloyds Bank (as well as Lloyds TSB) are in one article (although that's likely because those companies are all the same legally). A merger I don't think would cause any article-size or weighting problems.
Alternately, we could split the pre-1999 Lloyds Bank into a separate page called Lloyds Bank (historic) and split Lloyds TSB off too, keeping the Lloyds Bank page exclusively about the current post-2013 Lloyds Bank. Duke of New Gwynedd (talk | contrib.) 20:27, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Update: I have started working on a page for Lloyds TSB in my sandbox, just in case we go with the alternate option to split the Lloyds Bank page. Duke of New Gwynedd (talk | contrib.) 19:02, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- Weak oppose: The old TSB has significant history and came to end and is not connected except by name with the new TSB. When Lloyds took over the old TSB came to and end and the operations were thoroughly merged. The new TSB was in way manufactured for regulatory reasons and was set up as a new institution and there was a clear break between the old and new organisation with Lloyds bank in between. In Wikipedia a number of old companies have their own page and have not been merged with the current version of the company and so this is acceptable. Although a merge is possible if the history is explained well, I think it is okay to leave the pages separate. A separate old Lloyds page as suggested by Duke of New Gwynedd is a good idea.
