Redirecting back

[edit]

Since there's been some back and forth over whether this deserves a standalone article, here's why I'm opting to blank and redirect considering the article's most recent state (Special:Diff/1170647607):

  • The body is almost completely identical to the season article (as of this revision); almost everything is identical word for word
  • For the parts that aren't lifted (excluding the lead since that's simply a summary of the body):
    • Millions of residents from Shikoku and Honshu evacuated the BBC source cited says thousands
    • The center of Usagi passed, just 40 kilometers to the north of Nyutabaru, bringing hurricane-force winds to the area Terradaily source cited doesn't mention that at all
    • It left over $500 million worth of damages across Japan is not supported by any of the sources and especially not the JTWC ATCR appended behind that statement; I tried searching for any sort of damage total and couldn't find one (not even in Japan's FDMA's report)
  • Article's original creator has a history of making things up and copyright violations (see Talk:Typhoon Mawar (2005) as an example)

The article is thus way too problematic to exist in its current state. There's some impact coverage to be found in reliable sources but there's no reason why they can't fit in the season article for now. If much more information is found I'm not opposed to creating a standalone article again, but there's really no value in having spinoffs from the season article that add nothing to what the season article already covers. ~ KN2731 {talk · contribs} 11:54, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
