Name

Is "United Provinces of British India" the official name of this province, or is it just Wikipedia terminology? -- Kautilya3 (talk) 12:05, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion

@Necrothesp noticed you removed the deletion request, any particular reason? Did you find a source that includes this as an official name of the United Provinces, because like I said in the request I did not, but found mentions of the Agra and Oudh name being used on official documents well into the 1930s (here's one: https://www.abhilekh-patal.in/jspui/handle/123456789/2724544?searchWord=United&backquery=[query=%22United+Provinces+of+Agra+and+Oudh%22&originalquery=&sort_by=dc.date.issued_dt&order=desc&rpp=20&etal=0&start=40]).

Absent any official use of "United Provinces of British India" there is no reason for this page to exist, as it was the same entity as the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh, the Government of India Act 1919 only raised the post of Lieutenant-Governor to full Governor. The only other real difference between this article and the Agra and Oudh article is that this one gives a different capital (without providing a source) and that would be an easy addition to make to the Agra and Oudh article.
