Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because it meets WP:NPOL. Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme is a cabinet level position. --Saqib (talk) 10:53, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Page protection

[edit]

Per BLP, editors should not restore contentious material about living people that has been removed on BLP grounds without consensus. Since editors where not discussing the issue, but rather reverting each other, I have just protected the article for a week, reverting to a version that, in my opinion, did not contain any contentious information. If consensus is reached before the week is up, please let me know and I'll unprotect the page. Salvio Let's talk about it! 14:28, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I repeat what @SheriffIsInTown: said in the edit summaries that since the education section is all about a degree which Usman Dar received fraudulently from a degree mill, it does not qualify under section heading "Education" but "Dubious degree case" because the section title should be descriptive of the content it contains. --Saqib (talk) 14:39, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Salvio giuliano: There is no BLP violation in that content. It is supported by sources and stated as-is. I request you to restore my edit, you can count my opinion as third opinion and consider that there is already consensus. I do not see the objecting IP raising any valid points so far. If you yourself are contesting it then please let us know why do you think that it is a WP:BLPVIO. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 15:17, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The IP editor is not discussing the issue, so I'm about to unprotect the article. That said, in my opinion, we should stick close to what the sources have said, to make sure we are not breaching BLP and, so, if they call his degree "dubious", then probably saying dubious is better than saying fake... Salvio Let's talk about it! 11:07, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Salvio giuliano: I've made some changes and I suggest the BLP be semi-protected in order to avoid further disruption. --Saqib (talk) 11:30, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'd rather wait and see if disruption reoccurs, before semi-protecting. As the article stands now, it's perfectly compliant with BLP, in my opinion; so, if the IP starts edit warring, he can be blocked or the article semied. However, we tend not to protect articles preemptively. Salvio Let's talk about it! 11:40, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Dear admin @Salvio giuliano:, please check my edit, I just removed main head Dubious degree issue. Is it possible to change or remove it? One more thing which is necessary to mentioned is that senior user changed one thing here [1] he change from has to claims to hold but article holder has actually bachelors degree then why something like this Claims to was written. I changed that but senior user revert back. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.160.119.197 (talk) 12:30, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Because Dar himself claimed to hold the Bachelor of Commerce degree. There's no independent verification.--Saqib (talk) 12:52, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No he presented too that degree, also where its written that he claims? And one more thing is that when you know he claims, why were you not done this earlier? You should wait for the admin decision rather than just reverting. 119.160.118.146 (talk) 12:55, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This is a content dispute and, as such, administrators have no special authority. An administrator can express his opinions, but it carries no more weight than yours or that of another editor and, furthermore, when an admin gets involved in a content dispute, he can no longer act as an administrator. So, basically, I have absolutely no authority to make decisions on edits and you should not revert other people telling them to wait for my approval. In my opinion either option is now OK, as far as BLP goes, and it is up to you to come to a consensus (using WP:DR if necessary). I may get involved only if there are behavioural problems, for instance if there is an edit war going on or something like that. Salvio Let's talk about it! 14:36, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank You for response, Actually senior user is insisting so for now I am changing it now. Will there on discussion too if needed.
@Salvio giuliano: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Liborbital --Saqib (talk) 07:47, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You are reverting again and again I am insisting please stop. And as far as you have no point so you starting some baseless investigation. One more thing my IP address is always changed because I switched off data connection when have no usage but Only one IP i have starting from 119.160... Users like you have no permission to defame any blp just because you are the creater and senior. You can changed that head into Controversy too but you just want to defame him.
You better stop removing sourced material. @Salvio giuliano: Its time to semi-protect the page. --Saqib (talk) 13:41, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Salvio giuliano: please see this edit [2], continuously its violation of BLP, that person is not commited a crime for which the senior user is again and again expanding his blp with same dubuios degree case. He firstly do this in education section then in political section too. Saqib, You have to wait for what in future occurs rather then just filling what's in the resolution written and wrote same rubbish material on wikipidea.
Guess there's no use in discussing with serial sock puppets. --Saqib (talk) 14:29, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever you thinking but wait for the consensus. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.160.119.62 (talk) 14:34, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
